Manchester legends have announced the release of their 13th , It All Comes Down to This.

The is set to be released on April 19 via Mute and was produced by Dan Carey (known for his work with Fontaines DC, Wet Leg, Black Midi, Slowthai). Carey helped Jez Kerr, Martin Moscrop, and Donald Johnson strip down ACR to its core essence.

According to Kerr, “It's the Ratio removing the safety net. Every element of everything we've done on this has been a change.” Johnson adds, “It wasn't about erasing everyone else's contributions, but rather finding the key element that makes us work. And we know that's just the three of us being as basic as possible – no frills, no major overdubs. Just visceral and happening in the moment.”

The 's title track, which veers into Britpop territory by way of the mid-2000s post-punk revival (a movement that ACR greatly influenced), gives listeners a taste of what's to come. It's a catchy, charming, and one of their most immediate songs ever.

About A Certain Ratio

A Certain Ratio, popularly known as ACR, is an English post-punk band formed in Greater Manchester in 1977. The founding members of the band include Peter Terrell (guitar), Simon Topping (vocals, trumpet), Jez Kerr (bass guitar, vocals), Martin Moscrop (trumpet, guitar), and Donald Johnson (drums), with Martha Tilson (vocals) joining soon after.

ACR is known for being among the first white indie groups to draw heavy inspiration from funk, disco, and Latin percussion. They debuted on Tony Wilson's Factory Records in 1979 with “All Night Party,” which was produced by Martin Hannett. During their early years with Factory, ACR released five studio albums, starting with The Graveyard and the Ballroom (1980), and scored seven Top Ten UK independent releases, including “Flight” and “Waterline.”

After working with A&M Records and Rob Gretton's independent Robs Records during the late 1980s and early 1990s, ACR became intermittently active. They returned to the studio for their ninth studio , Mind Made Up, in 2008 and have continued to perform since then. Their back catalog has been recirculated through an arrangement with Mute Records.

ACR released their first new studio album in twelve years, ACR Loco, in September 2020, followed by three EPs, A, C, and R, in 2021. Their eleventh studio album, 1982, is set to release in 2023.
